Try It Tuesday- Pattern Mixing

Hey Crew! Here at Haute Navy, the goal is to inspire you to try something new, look at your current clothes in a new light, so I am happy to introduce the new monthly series “Try it Tuesday.” Today is one of my favorite trends…and it is one that people usually either LOVE or HATE, clearly you know what side I am on. Personally, I think pattern mixing done right looks put together and trendy without trying too hard. They key to pattern mixing (in my honest opinion) is to pick a color that you want to coordinate, so in this case since the black on the skirt is understated that is the color I focused on. And if you aren’t ready to go all in with a top, take baby steps with shoes or a bag (some suggestions below). First, this skirt is what dreams are made of, gorgeous pattern, beautiful material and an under $30 price tag. Not to mention it isn’t an awkward length (no hemming required for you short ladies). These photos were shot on a FREEZING and beyond windy day so you really get to see the movement of the skirt (and me shivering if you look closely). The pattern mixed look could be worn now and then pop on a jean jacket for spring…that was actually my plan but I forgot my jean jacket at home. And for those of you not quite ready to leap into patterns I styled it with a monochromatic top…but come on, give pattern mixing a chance! 🙂
